Walla Walla Valley wineries welcome Fall with two special event weekends
WALLA WALLA, WA — With the 2014 wine grape harvest well underway in the Walla Walla Valley, it’s an exciting time of year to visit the Valley’s wineries.
“Harvest is always such a vibrant time of year in the Walla Walla Valley,” said Duane Wollmuth, Executive Director of the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance. “With the crisp, cool weather and Fall foliage — it’s a beautiful sight around here.”
Valley wineries are celebrating the season with two very special weekends:
- Fall Release Weekend, November 7-9, 2014
- Holiday Barrel Tasting Weekend, December 5-7, 2014
Each winery participates in its own unique way, providing visitors with a variety of options to map out a fun weekend. During Fall Release, many wineries pour their new releases, host live music and put on special winemaker dinners. The wineries get all decked out for Holiday Barrel Tasting, with many offering visitors a chance to try new wines straight from the barrel.
“During these special event weekends, visitors can be among the first to take home or taste a selection of wines, many of which can be found only by visiting the wineries and tasting rooms themselves,” Wollmuth said.
The Walla Walla Valley wine region is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2014, as it continues to gain accolades as a top wine region in the world. A full schedule of events for each weekend can be found online at http://www.wallawalla.org.
