Walla Walla Valley Wine Month Announced for April 2020
Presented by the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance and its members, April is the perfect month to honor all the Valley has to offer!
WALLA WALLA, Wash. (January 22, 2020) – Today, the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance announced the creation of the first annual Walla Walla Valley Wine Month, slated for April 2020.
Wineries, restaurants, tour companies, and hotels are banding together to support Walla Walla Valley Wine Month in a variety of ways. The month of April welcomes an uptick in activity beginning with Spring Kick-Off Weekend, the first full weekend of April and first official wine weekend of the year. Mid-month, Reveal Walla Walla Valley, the region’s invite-only premier wine auction designed exclusively for the wine trade and private collectors, presents prized one-of-a-kind auction lots available for bid. In addition, a number of legacy community events such as the year’s first Food Truck Night, Tour de Walla Walla, and many others hosted by local wineries and businesses blanket the community calendar of events.
“April is an under-rated time to visit the Walla Walla Valley, as the hills and trees return to a verdant state of green, the sap begins to flow in the vines, wooly buds appear and we all await the spectacular burst of the next vintage,” says Robert Hansen, Executive Director of the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance. “Additionally, if you can’t get to the Walla Walla Valley in April, it’s the perfect time to start planning your trip for the remainder of the year.”
Walla Walla Valley Wine Month also happens to be nestled between Taste Washington Wine Month, March, and Oregon Wine Month, May, just as the gem-shaped cross border Walla Walla Valley AVA is positioned. In addition to all the festivities, the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance will run a social media advertising campaign throughout the month sharing information about the wine region to support winery members and other local businesses.
“There’s so much to share and extol about Walla Walla Valley Wine that declaring a whole month specifically for doing so just made sense,” shares Muriel Kenyon, Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance Board President. “From the world-class wines produced in the Walla Walla Valley to the unique growing sites of the AVA, from the people who make this region what it is to the comprehensive wine experience available to all who visit, there is no shortage of remarkable attributes that the Walla Walla Valley possesses.”
