What’s french for two soldiers?

WHAT’S IN A NAME: DEUX SOLDATS

Eric and Ruthann are “two soldiers” who met while both were serving in the US Army. Shortly after meeting, Ruthann was stationed in Washington D.C. while Eric was attending post-graduate studies in Monterey, California. Long distance dating ensued, and each time Ruthann flew out to visit Eric, they would head north to Napa Valley. An oft remembered discussion while sipping wine and walking through the vineyards was…”we could do this someday”.

After completing 20+ year Army careers with numerous deployments, They embarked on their next adventure to establish a family wine estate in the Walla Walla Valley. Beginning with a 10-acre, sustainably farmed vineyard of French Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec vines, our vineyard continues to expand.  In 2022, they  planted three acres of French Cabernet Franc, and Pinot Noir (the happy accident).  In 2024, they  planted an acre of Petit Verdot, reaching our initial goal for all our red wines to be estate grown.

They trace the heritage of their French vines to the mother block in France….when deciding on a name, they thought “What’s French for Two Soldiers”? Ahhh…
