Exploring the Airport District 6

What was once home to a World War II army airfield is now home to wineries, breweries, distilleries and more. In the Airport District of the Walla Walla Valley, you can step off your flight and into a hub of local beverage creations. In old mess halls, hangars, garages and more, winemakers and brewers are hard at work and waiting to share their craft.

Morning
In the morning, get your brain in gear with a nitro cold brew coffee, or a hot cup of goodness from the Walla Walla Roastery, located just across the street from the airport, and nosh on pastries they have sourced from local bakeries.

Afternoon
Visit the Airport District wineries, some of which are housed in renovated WWII buildings, and who are known for amazing wines and a fun tasting room experience:

On your way downtown for lunch, pick up a piece of Walla Walla history at the Country Store, Walla Walla’s largest antique and consignment.

Enjoy a tasty lunch at Walla Walla Bread Company. They offer delicious sandwiches, woodfired pizza and more!

If you are in the mood for more tasting, make reservations at Kontos Cellars and Lagana Cellars just down Main Street and around the corner on Second Avenue. Finally, conclude your day of wine tasting with an appointment at Gifford Hirlinger on the Southside of the Walla Walla Valley.

Evening
Weave your way back into town and take a stroll through Pioneer Park and Aviary. This is Walla Walla’s oldest park and is made up if 58-acres and is sure to work-up your appetite for dinner from Hattaway’s on Alder or Brasserie Four where both feature an impressive wine selection.
